The fluid Power Action Challenge at Alex Tech was a success! Mr. Talley took three 8th grade teams again this year and all the teams had loads of fun. They learned so many little life lessons when it comes to being prepared and working under pressure. Below is a quick video of one of the teams in action.
The team made up of Nolan Wedll, Mathew Tuel, Eric Swanson and Micaiah Abramson did very well. This team took 1st place in the "Portfolio" category, 1st place in the "Team Work" category, and 1st place in the "Design" category.
The team made up of Kiera Drewlow and Eldin Saric took 2nd place in "Teamwork" even though they were two members short on their team. Maybe that is precisely why the judges felt they deserved the 2nd place teamwork award. They did more with less.
Through a generous donation in memory of Dr. Allen Magnuson, the Nursing Assistant class received instruction and certification this week in BLS CPR.
Mike "Ski" Cieniawski, NRP, Ringdahl Ambulance provided the instruction and testing.
Students in the class: Madi B., Avah E., Clarissa H., Stella H., Kate H., Ella J., Nevaeh K., Grey K., Rylyn K., Brandy M., Grace P., Elise P., Lexy S., Abby S., and Emma S.
Mrs. Nickolauson's 8th grade REACH students recently completed a challenging ‘Reassembling the rainbow’ Team Building activity.
Half of the team is blindfolded, while the other half can see. The students that can see cannot say the color of the block or touch the blocks. They have a pattern they have to complete as a team, and as a team devise multiple different strategies to achieve their goal.
This activity focuses on teamwork, patience, critical-thinking, and strategic thinking. While it was a slow start, they worked together to complete the pattern and were kind to one another while working on a difficult task.
