The Mckstaff is so grateful to be a part of a community that supports reading and helps our students celebrate it well during I Love to Read month.
Classrooms have been filled all month with celebrity readers from throughout the community.
McKinley students have also been treated to weekly assemblies throughout February with special readers sharing a bit of Junie B. Jones.
Mrs. Schoeneck’s kindergarteners studied floating volcanic rock, marine fossils, DINOSAUR COPROLITE (aka fossilized dinosaur poop) with local artist and geologist Sara Ronnevik.
Friday was Grinch Day at McKinley School! Students had a couple special visitors today. Steven Vigesaa came to read and sing about the Grinch and the Grinch himself even made an appearance!
Students also participated in a variety of other Grinchy activities including a 100 chart Grinch, Grinchy sight words, labeling the Grinch with describing words, directed drawings and more!
Kindergarten students set off on their first field trip of the year to explore the prairie through their senses.
The outdoor classroom is the perfect way to introduce little learners the world of science. They get a hands-on experience seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling things as they explore the world around them. (we skipped tasting :-)
