Welcome to Fergus Falls Middle School!
We are proud to be a part of your childâs journey through the exciting and transformative middle school years. At FFMS, we are Committed to Excellence in all that we doâacademically, socially, and emotionally.
Middle School is a pivotal time in a young personâs life. With increased academic expectations, growing independence, and rapid physical and emotional development, itâs truly a time of change. Our dedicated faculty and staff are passionate about supporting students through this complex and rewarding stage.
Fergus Falls Middle School offers a wide range of educational opportunities designed to meet the needs of every learner. We are boldly moving toward experiential learning, where students engage in hands-on activities paired with thoughtful reflectionâbringing classroom content to life in meaningful and lasting ways. Every minute matters, and our focus on bell-to-bell engagement is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
A key priority at FFMS is building a strong school-home partnership. We are committed to nurturing respectful, consistent communication with families as we work together to guide and support our students. By working as a team, we can help every student reach their full potentialâin and out of the classroom.
Our school community is grounded in the motto:
"Otters A.R.E. Always Otters"
This motto is reinforced through monthly class meetings and is displayed throughout the school to remind students what it means to be an Otter.
At Fergus Falls Middle School, we strive every day to create a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels seen, supported, and ready to grow. Whether you are a parent, student, or teacher, this journey is filled with both challenges and opportunities. Letâs embrace them together and make this an outstanding experience for our students.
Thank you for being part of our school community. Weâre excited about the journey ahead!

7th and 8th grade REACH students have been busy growing sunflowers as part of their "Nature and Good Health" days. Last week they took their little seedlings outside to be replanted along the Otter Trail. Some of the Sunflowers planted could grow to be 12' tall! If you are back on the trail this summer, keep an eye out for the REACH Sunflowers.
8th grader artists in Ms. Artnson's classroom have been sharing their artistic talents and creativity, treating teachers and staff to new decorations for their rooms!
Fifth grade students traveled to Walker Lake Fish Hatchery for âConservation Days.â Stations included games and learning about pollinators, recycling, erosion, water conservation, walleye harvest, and soil conservation.
Mrs. Nickolauson's 8th grade REACH students recently completed a challenging âReassembling the rainbowâ Team Building activity.Mr. Talley's 7th grade work-working students take to the lab to put their learning into practice! What great hands-on learning!
